The short answer

What the Juläine biostimulator does

Juläine is an injectable based on poly-L-lactic acid, usually shortened to PLLA, a material the body breaks down slowly. Each vial holds 150 mg of PLLA microspheres as a dry powder, which is mixed with sterile water and placed in the deep layer of the skin. The microspheres prompt your fibroblasts, the cells that make collagen, to lay new collagen down around them, so skin grows firmer and slightly fuller over the following weeks. Very little changes on the day itself.

It is made in Sweden by Nordberg Medical and carries a CE mark as a class III device. Two doctor-led practices at UNTIL Marylebone, 1 Orchard Street, list the treatment on their own websites. An enquiry goes to UNTIL Health Concierge, who book your assessment with one of them; the Juläine and PLLA glossary explains any term on this page.

Juläine can help to:

Soften the lines from nose to mouth

The maker designed Juläine for the nasolabial folds, the creases between the sides of the nose and the corners of the mouth, and its instructions name them as its intended use.

Firm skin that has lost density

New collagen thickens the deep layer of the skin over the months after treatment, so skin that has thinned with age looks and feels firmer while your features stay the same.

Restore gentle fullness where the face has thinned

PLLA replaces a little of the support lost from the cheeks and lower face, and the change arrives gradually over two to three months.

Improve skin on the jawline, neck and hands

Practitioners in London, including one at UNTIL Marylebone, publish its use on the jawline, neck, chest and backs of the hands. Ask yours how often they treat the area you have in mind.

Keep the change with fewer appointments

A course is up to three sessions, and the maker gives a lifetime of 12 to 18 months, so most people plan one review about a year later.

Where Juläine is used

Juläine builds structure and firmness slowly. It is never injected into the lips, and a line caused by movement needs a different treatment.

How Juläine works: PLLA and collagen

Juläine belongs to a group of injectables called collagen stimulators, or biostimulators. A filler adds a gel that holds a shape on the day; a stimulator places a material that prompts your own tissue to change over the following weeks.

Poly-L-lactic acid microspheres

Each vial contains 150 mg of poly-L-lactic acid in the form of microspheres, with 45 mg of carboxymethylcellulose and 145 mg of mannitol to help the powder suspend evenly. The maker gives the particle size as 1 to 50 micrometres, with an average of 32.6, and describes the spheres as smooth, round and uniform, designed to produce a low inflammatory response. Once injected, the microspheres sit in the deep layer of the skin, fibroblasts lay down collagen around them, and the PLLA itself is slowly broken down. One 5 mL vial is enough for both sides of the face at one visit, with no more than 1.5 mL a side. PLLA treatment in London explains the material in more depth.

Collagen injections and collagen stimulators

Juläine contains no collagen. When people search for collagen injections today they usually mean a treatment like this one, which gets the skin producing more collagen itself. It also explains the wait: a collagen stimulator’s result appears across two to three months while the new collagen is laid down, whereas a gel filler’s is visible the same day. In a 2025 study of 36 adults funded by the maker, 44.4% had at least one point less wrinkle severity on a standard scale a month after the first session, and 63.9% after two months.

Juläine vs Sculptra

Sculptra is another PLLA injectable, made by a different company, and the two work in the same way. Juläine’s maker points to its smoother, more uniform microspheres as the difference; we found no published trial comparing the two directly. In the same club, a nurse-led practice lists Sculptra at £550 a session, given as a course of three spaced six to eight weeks apart. Ask any practitioner who offers both why they would choose one for your face, or read Juläine vs Sculptra for the two side by side.

Juläine vs Profhilo

Profhilo is built on hyaluronic acid and works mainly on hydration and skin quality, normally in two sessions four weeks apart, and its results last about six months. Juläine is PLLA and works on structure and firmness, building over two to three months and lasting longer. They answer different problems, and some people have both.

Juläine and dermal filler

Juläine is sometimes called a PLLA filler, and its maker describes it as an implant for correcting folds. Hyaluronic acid filler alters shape immediately, and an enzyme can dissolve it if needed. Juläine works through the new collagen it prompts, so its result builds over months. That is why Juläine suits gradual, overall firmness, and a filler suits a precise change in one spot.

Ask whether Juläine suits you

Juläine treatment, from assessment to review

A Juläine course is planned at a face-to-face assessment, because it builds structure slowly and some concerns need a different treatment.

  1. Step 1: Assessment

The doctor examines your face, takes your medical history, medicines and allergies, and says whether Juläine suits what you want to change. You hear the price of the course before anything is booked.

  2. Step 2: Preparation

Juläine arrives as a powder. The maker’s instructions say it is mixed with 5 mL of sterile water and left to stand for two hours before use. Come to the appointment with the area free of make-up.

  3. Step 3: Injections

Numbing is offered if you want it. The doctor places small amounts in the deep layer of the skin through a fine needle or a cannula with a rounded tip, in a pattern of small points across each area. The appointment takes 30 to 60 minutes.

  4. Step 4: Massage and aftercare

The treated area is massaged straight afterwards, as the maker’s instructions require, and some practitioners ask you to keep massaging at home for a few days. Expect redness or swelling for a few days.

  5. Step 5: The rest of the course

Further sessions follow a few weeks apart, up to three in all. The maker’s instructions allow two to four weeks between sets; its patient guidance suggests four to eight. Your doctor sets the interval.

  6. Step 6: Review

The result is judged no sooner than four weeks after a session, and fully at two to three months. The maker suggests a check within a week and again at about 12 months.

Juläine before and after: results month by month

The change after Juläine is in the firmness and thickness of the skin, so it shows slowly and is easiest to see in photographs taken in the same light.

  • The first few days: redness, swelling or bruising at the injection points, which the maker says usually settles within a few days. Early fullness in this week is swelling, not the result.
  • Weeks two to four: the maker says most people notice the first tightening within a few weeks, and a second session is often planned around now.
  • Months two to three: the improvement becomes clearer as new collagen forms. In the maker-funded study, 63.9% of people had measurably softer lines two months after the first session.
  • Months 12 to 18: the maker’s leaflet gives a lifetime of 12 to 18 months, and it suggests a review at about 12 months.

Some London clinics advertise results lasting up to two years. The maker’s own figure is 12 to 18 months, so plan around that. Photograph yourself before session one and again at three months in the same light, and ask the doctor to show you photographs of their own patients taken under matching conditions.

How much does Juläine cost in London?

London clinics that publish a Juläine price charge £950 to £1,495 for one session and £2,350 to £4,955 for a course of three, checked on 13 October 2026. At UNTIL Marylebone, one of the two doctor-led practices lists £950 to £1,000 a session and £2,350 to £2,500 for three; the other quotes at consultation. Juläine London neither sets prices nor takes payment.

What changes the price

The number of vials, the areas treated, how many sessions you need and who injects you. One vial usually covers both sides of the face at one visit. Clinics led by a dermatologist or a senior doctor tend to sit at the top of the range.

Per session, per vial or per course

Check what a quote covers: one session, one vial or a full course, and whether follow-up reviews are in the price. Clinics that publish both charge less for a course of three than for three single sessions. Treat a price well under the London range with caution, because most of the cost is the product, the doctor’s time and the aftercare. Juläine prices in London lists every published figure.

PLLA side effects and Juläine safety

Common effects in the first days

Redness, swelling, tenderness, small bruises and pinpoint marks at the injection points, which the maker says usually clear within a few days. The maker says most people carry on with their day straight after treatment.

Nodules and delayed lumps

Like other PLLA injectables, Juläine can occasionally cause small lumps under the skin, and the maker lists nodules, granulomas and firm papules that appear between one and 14 months after treatment. The maker says too much product in one place can cause them, and that following the aftercare, including massage, may help reduce the risk. Any lump, or pain that worsens, needs the doctor who treated you.

Who should avoid Juläine

The maker rules it out for anyone under 18, pregnant or breastfeeding, and for anyone with active or chronic skin disease in the area, an allergy to its ingredients, a bleeding disorder or blood thinner, a history of keloid or raised scars, or an immune deficiency. Injections near blood vessels carry a very rare risk of blocking one, which is another reason to choose an experienced doctor and ask how they would handle it.

Juläine injections:
questions answered

How much is Juläine in London?

London clinics publish £950 to £1,495 for one Juläine session and £2,350 to £4,955 for a course of three, checked on 13 October 2026. The price depends on vials, areas and who injects you. Juläine London sets no price; the doctor you meet confirms yours at the assessment, before anything is booked.

How many Juläine sessions will I need?

Usually up to three, a few weeks apart. The maker’s instructions allow a maximum of three sets of injections for a complete treatment, and some faces need fewer. The doctor Juläine London connects you with sets the number and the interval at your assessment, after looking at your skin.

When will I see results from Juläine?

Slowly, by design. The maker says most people notice early tightening within a few weeks, and the improvement becomes clearer by two to three months, once new collagen has formed. Juläine London’s advice is to compare at three months with photographs you took before session one, in the same light.

How long does Juläine last?

The maker’s patient leaflet gives a lifetime of 12 to 18 months, and its instructions suggest a review at 12 months. Some London clinics advertise up to two years, but Juläine London quotes the maker’s figure. Age, sun exposure and smoking all affect how long your own result holds.

Is massage needed after Juläine?

Yes. The maker’s instructions call for the treated area to be massaged after each set of injections, and some London clinics also ask you to massage at home for a few days. Follow the aftercare your doctor gives you. Juläine London suggests asking the doctor to show you how before you leave.

What are the side effects of Juläine?

Redness, swelling, tenderness and bruising at the injection points, which usually clear within a few days. Less often, small lumps can appear weeks or months later, and injections near vessels carry a very rare risk. Juläine London suggests asking the doctor at your assessment how they would manage each one.

Can Juläine be used on the jawline and neck?

Practitioners in London, including one at UNTIL Marylebone, publish its use on the jawline, neck, chest and hands. The maker’s instructions name the lines from nose to mouth as its designed use. Juläine London suggests asking your doctor how often they treat the area you have in mind, and why.

Who will inject my Juläine at UNTIL Marylebone?

A doctor. Both practices at UNTIL Marylebone that publish Juläine are doctor-led and run independently inside the club. Your enquiry through Juläine London reaches UNTIL Health Concierge, who book your assessment with one of the two. Before treatment, ask for your doctor’s GMC number and look it up on the medical register.
